Rocket is built for one specific look: a tight, uniform cluster of branches launching straight up from a broad, low caudex — like a crown of rockets on a launch pad. It's the cleanest path to a structured, multi-trunk bonsai silhouette with almost no training required.

FULL PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Adenium arabicum 'Rocket' earns its name from the sleek, vertical trajectory of its branch canopy, not from height. The branches emerge in a dense, uniform cluster and shoot straight up from the top of the caudex — a clean, organized look that most arabicum lines need years of wiring to approach.

Symmetrical, Crowned Branching
Rocket's defining trait is how organized its canopy is from the start. Numerous primary branches of matching thickness push out at the same time and grow sharply upward in a tight cluster, forming a dense, even crown directly on top of the caudex.

The Compact Caudex
Underneath that vertical crown sits a wide, flat, heavily rooted caudex. The contrast between the broad lateral base and the perfectly erect branches above it is what gives Rocket its distinct, balanced silhouette.

Sleek Bark Texture
Bark matures to a smooth, clean silvery-gray to light-bronze tone. Rocket skips the heavy ribbing and muscle-ripple texture seen in lines like Hulk in favor of a cleaner, more aerodynamic look.

Foliage and Flowers
Rich green, broad, leathery leaves cap the upright branches in a thick green cap when fully leafed out. Classic single pink to pale-red trumpet blooms show up against the bare, vertical stems when the plant drops leaves for dormancy.

Training Notes
Rocket's short internodes and tight vertical growth make it an exceptional candidate for pinching — hard-pinching tips on a young seedling pushes the cluster into an even tighter, more compact canopy. Planted in a shallow, wide, circular bonsai pot, even a young Rocket can read like a miniature ancient banyan or baobab.

Zone 6 Notes
This is the line I run the strictest wet-dry cycle on — Rocket needs maximum direct sun and a real dry-down between waterings or the branches stretch out and lose that tight vertical formation, which defeats the whole point of growing it. Highly porous, gritty media is non-negotiable here (Desert Oasis Potting Media works well). Outside in full sun after May 15, indoors before first hard frost in mid-October, then standard arabicum dormancy through winter. If you're going for the miniature banyan look, start the shallow wide pot early — the caudex spreads into it as the plant matures.
