'California Dreaming' is a warm, tropical-toned cultivar with one of the softer color blends in the multi-petal lineup — more sherbet than saturated splash. Sunny peach-yellow fills the core and petal centers, framed by vivid watermelon-pink and soft magenta along the outer edges. Fine red-pink veins radiate out across the lighter yellow centers, which is what gives the bloom its gradient effect rather than blocky color zones.
Flower form is multi-petaled — double to triple — with a densely swirling central rosette and gently pointed petal tips, so the bloom reads full without losing definition at the tips. Foliage is smooth, medium-to-dark green and oblanceolate, and sets off the warm pastel tones well against the darker leaf base.
Growth habit is standard obesum: a swollen caudex base with sturdy, upright branching as the plant matures.
Zone 6 note: Grown and cold-acclimated here in Northern Kentucky, not held under constant greenhouse warmth, so it's already adjusted to real seasonal temperature swings before it ships. Bring indoors ahead of first frost and withhold water through winter dormancy no matter what zone you're in.
