Three heavyweight Thai genetics combined into one seedling population: SDD (Siam Diamond Dorset) for extreme dwarfism and tightly curled leaf mutation, KHZ DD for a muscular low-slung pancake caudex and aggressive lateral root flare, and Chada Tung Nang for explosive self-branching and clean silver-gold bark. The target phenotype is an ultra-compact, heavily branched dwarf powerhouse with radial roots spreading like spokes from a wide, flat base.

FULL PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Adenium arabicum 'SDD × KHZ DD × Chada Tung Nang' is an advanced multi-generational Thai hybrid cross built by stacking three distinct genetic strengths toward one specific goal: an ultra-compact, wide, flat, densely branched dwarf bonsai with aggressive structural roots and premium bark aesthetics.

The SDD Contribution — Extreme Dwarfism & Leaf Mutation
Siam Diamond Dorset is an elite Dorset Horn Adenium line. It introduces tightly curled, heavily rolled leaves, hyper-shortened internodes, and a miniature growth habit — ensuring the resulting seedlings stay exceptionally compact and naturally miniature from the earliest stages of development.

The KHZ DD Contribution — Muscular Bone Structure & Root Spread
Khao Hin Zan's pancake-style or dome-shaped caudex and aggressive, symmetrical lateral root flare anchor the curly DHA canopy onto a wide, powerful base. The "DD" modifier represents a highly selected ultra-compact, heavy-branching variant of the KHZ line — more refined and dwarf-directed than standard KHZ.

The Chada Tung Nang Contribution — Explosive Branching & Skin Patina
The "Golden Crown" lineage brings phenomenal, explosive self-branching: a perfectly uniform radial ring of thick, stubby horizontal branches from the upper caudex rim. It also carries a beautiful clean light silver-gray to coppery-tinted bark that offers strong visual contrast to the dense canopy above.

What to Expect in Seedling Populations
This is a multi-generational hybrid cross — every seedling is genetically unique, and you will see a sliding scale of trait expression across the batch. Premium selections will combine a wide, flat, squat KHZ-dominated base with thick lateral roots radiating outward like spokes, an exceptionally dense crown-like canopy from Chada Tung Nang's branching influence, and curled or wavy DHA leaf morphology from the SDD side that makes the canopy look textured and heavily stacked. Some individuals will lean harder toward SDD compactness, others toward KHZ's flat pancake base — both directions land within the intended dwarf bonsai range.

Zone 6 Notes
The stacked dwarf genetics in this cross make it the most rot-sensitive line I grow — slower metabolism, compact root system, almost zero tolerance for retained moisture. I run it in 85–90% inorganic grit (pumice, lava rock, coarse perlite) with no exceptions, and I water with more restraint than anything else on my bench. Maximum unfiltered direct sun from a young age is critical: the Chada Tung Nang branching tightness and the SDD curled leaf form both depend on high light intensity to hold their shape — drop below full sun and the compact crown starts to reach and stretch, which defeats the entire genetic package. Outside after May 15, indoors well before first hard frost in mid-October, then dry winter dormancy with zero water until active spring growth.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

  • Fresh Adenium arabicum 'SDD × KHZ DD × Chada Tung Nang' seeds (select quantity above)
  • Germination instructions included with every order

GROWING BASICS

  • Germination temp: 85–95°F
  • Germination time: 5–14 days under ideal conditions
  • Hardiness: Bring indoors before nighttime temps reach 50°F
  • Light: Maximum unfiltered direct sun or high-output full-spectrum LED from a young age — critical for both compact form and bark tone
  • Media: 85–90% inorganic (pumice, lava rock, coarse perlite) — zero water retention tolerance
  • Watering: More restrained than standard arabicum lines — stacked dwarf genetics mean slower metabolism and higher rot sensitivity
  • Dormancy: Strict dry winter dormancy — cease watering completely when foliage drops
  • Skill level: Advanced — stacked dwarf genetics demand precision substrate, watering, and light discipline
