Adenium arabicum ‘Omega’ — Collector Seed Pack | 10 Seeds

If you’ve spent any time in the Adenium collector community, you already know the ‘Omega’ name. This is one of the most sought-after arabicum lines in the hobby — and for good reason. The architecture on a well-grown ‘Omega’ is unlike anything else in the genus.

These seeds come from Thai breeding stock. Thailand is the primary source for stabilized ‘Omega’ genetics, and that’s where I source mine. If you want the real thing, that’s where it comes from.

What makes ‘Omega’ different:
The focus of this cultivar is entirely on structure. Where most Adenium arabicum develop a rugged, upright caudex, the ‘Omega’ line pushes in the opposite direction — wide, squat, and massively branched from an early age. A mature specimen grows considerably wider than it does tall, with a dense, canopy-like crown of horizontal branches that genuinely resembles a miniature baobab. The skin develops a silvery-grey to dark green coloration with a muscular, folded texture that gives even young plants an ancient appearance.

Foliage is broader and thicker than standard arabicum, with a noticeable velvety texture and deep matte green color. Flowers are typical arabicum — light pink to near-white with a darker pink throat, smaller than hybrid obesum types. On an ‘Omega’, the bloom is secondary. The plant itself is the showpiece.

Growing ‘Omega’ correctly:
This cultivar rewards growers who understand what it needs. Cut corners on these three things and you’ll lose the form.

Light: Intense, direct sun is non-negotiable. Low light causes internodal stretching and the plant loses its characteristic squat shape quickly. Full sun outdoors during the growing season is ideal.

Water: Many experienced ‘Omega’ growers use a deliberately lean watering approach — less water, less fertilizer — to encourage skin wrinkling and trunk thickening rather than lush, soft growth. This is a plant that responds well to a harder growing style.

Media: Plant in a highly porous, inorganic mix. Pumice, lava rock, and perlite-heavy formulas are the standard. The root system on a mature ‘Omega’ is substantial, and it needs rapid drainage to stay healthy. Dense, moisture-retentive mixes are the fastest way to lose one of these plants.

Cold climate growers: Adenium arabicum is a container plant in Zone 7 and colder. It overwinters successfully indoors with minimal water, good light if available, and temperatures above 50°F. The ‘Omega’ form holds well through dormancy when kept dry. Resume watering gradually in spring as temperatures rise and new growth appears.

Germination: Sow seeds in warm, well-draining media. Soil temperature of 80–85°F produces the best germination rates. Seeds typically sprout within 7–14 days under proper conditions.
