About the plant

This is an intentional cross of two of the most coveted dark-skinned arabicum lines in Thailand — 'KHZ Black' and 'Black Panther.' Crosses like this are where the interesting variation shows up. You're sowing for dark skin and a heavy caudex, with the range of expression only a first-generation cross gives you — no two seedlings quite the same. For a collector, that unpredictability is the appeal.

Growing it in Zone 6 — and anywhere cold

I've grown arabicum in Northern Kentucky for over 30 years, and this cross wants the standard arabicum setup: warmth, strong light, and a fast-draining inorganic mix. Give the seed bottom heat to germinate, keep young seedlings warm and bright through their first winter indoors, and go easy on the water while they establish.
