Desert Oasis Summer Top Dress Media
A seasonal surface amendment designed for established Adenium, Plumeria, Pachypodium and other caudiciform plants during warm-weather active growth. Summer care centers on maintaining an open root-zone surface, protecting drainage and responding to changing heat and moisture demands.
How to Use
- Check growth: Apply to healthy, actively growing plants. Inspect the pot for drainage and signs of stress.
- Clear the surface: Remove fallen leaves, debris and compacted old top dress.
- Apply a thin layer: Distribute Summer Top Dress Media evenly over the exposed potting surface without packing it down. Follow the product label for application quantity.
- Protect the caudex: Keep the stem base and root collar exposed and clear of piled material.
- Water according to conditions: Evaluate the moisture of the underlying potting media, not just the surface. Allow the potting media to dry between waterings; adjust to plant activity, pot size, light and heat.
- Monitor and refresh: Watch for surface compaction or debris accumulation, and refresh when needed. Reduce watering as growth slows.
Summer Growing Notes
Even in hot weather, prolonged wet roots can cause problems. Ensure free drainage and avoid leaving containers in standing water. Surface amendments do not replace an appropriate potting mix or sound watering practices. Do not assume a dry top layer means the entire root zone is dry.
