Desert Oasis Spring Top Dress Media — Application & Care Guide
Spring Growth Starts at the Surface
Desert Oasis Spring Top Dress Media is a seasonal surface amendment for actively growing Adenium, Plumeria and Pachypodium. It is designed to support spring vegetative growth through a nitrogen-forward, biologically active top dress while maintaining a structured surface.
What Makes It Different?
The formula includes fine pumice, fine perlite, worm castings, pine bark fines, feather meal, fine biochar and dolomite lime. Feather meal provides slowly available organic nitrogen as soil microbes process it; release depends on warmth, moisture and biological activity. Mineral ingredients support surface structure and aeration.
How to Apply
- Confirm active growth: Wait for new leaves and sustained warm conditions. Do not feed a cold or dormant plant.
- Inspect the surface: Remove debris and old compacted top dressing. Check that the pot drains freely.
- Apply evenly: Spread a thin layer of Spring Top Dress Media approximately 1/4–1/2 inch deep over the exposed media surface, avoiding the caudex and stem base.
- Water in: Water appropriately to settle the layer and activate biological processes, allowing excess water to drain completely.
- Monitor: Keep in suitable light and warmth, and allow the underlying potting media to dry between waterings according to plant needs.
- Reassess: Check plant response and nutrient inputs before reapplying. During active growth, reapplication may be considered after 2–3 months, depending on conditions and other feeding.
Important Notes
Do not bury the caudex or crown. This is a nutrient-containing amendment, not a substitute for correct light, drainage and watering. Avoid combining with other nitrogen-rich fertilizers without accounting for total feeding. Adjust application to pot size and plant vigor.
