Adenium Arabicum 'Wang Na Lay'

A classic, well-established Thai cultivar built around symmetry rather than mass. It
forms a low, broad, bowl-shaped caudex with a dense, naturally radial ring of branches
— the plant does a lot of the training work itself, which is part of why it's a favorite for

formal bonsai styling. Foliage is glossy and leathery; blooms run high-contrast pink-to-
fuchsia and star-shaped.

Growing it in Zone 6b: Germinate indoors now — soak seed 12–24 hours, sow shallow
in Desert Oasis Germination Media, and hold consistent surface moisture with a heat
mat under it. Wang Na Lay germinates reliably for me, usually within a week, but the
seedlings are sensitive to overwatering in the first month because the caudex starts
flaring almost immediately. Let the top layer dry between waterings once true leaves are
established.
This variety doesn't need the intense light some of the darker-bark arabicum lines
require — moderate-to-strong light is enough to keep the radial branching pattern
developing evenly on all sides. Rotate the pot weekly under grow lights so one side
doesn't outgrow the others; that symmetry is the whole point of this genetic.
First winter, back off water significantly once the seedling has a few sets of true leaves
— a light dry dormancy is normal and won't set it back. Come spring, you'll start seeing
the branch ring establish, and from there it's mostly a matter of patience and consistent
light.
