Adenium Overwintering in Zone 6: Leaf Drop & Fast-Draining Media
Share
Zone 3–5 growers: You're already past leaf drop in most cases and should have mature specimens indoors or well into dormancy prep. If you haven't repotted into a fast-draining media before bringing plants in, do it now — you don't get another chance once they're in low light and cool temps for the winter.
Zone 6 growers like me in Northern Kentucky: We're in the thick of it. Highs are still reaching the upper 80s to low 90s some days this week (88° Tuesday, 90° Wednesday), but overnight lows are already down in the mid-to-upper 60s and trending toward the mid-50s by early next week. Scattered rain chances all seven days — nothing over 40% — but combined with cooler nights, this is the stretch where I start checking pots for standing moisture before I water rather than watering on a schedule. This is also decision week for which mature specimens are coming indoors and which ones I'm letting finish dormancy prep outside a little longer.
Zone 7 growers in Tennessee and the Carolinas: You've got a bit more runway than we do, but the same rain-and-cooling-nights pattern is headed your way over the next few weeks. This is a strong window for you specifically — you've got enough season left to get real growth on Plumeria and premium Adenium plants before your first frost risk shows up, which makes now a smart time to bring in anything you've been eyeing rather than waiting until the cold snap makes the decision for you.

Desert Oasis Potting Media — engineered specifically so moisture moves away from the caudex instead of sitting against it, which is exactly what matters as rain increases and root activity slows down heading into fall.

Adenium, Plumeria, and Pachypodium Seeds — this summer's seed stock, ready to start now for real head start on 2027. I brought in more than I have room to sow myself this year, and I'd rather see it germinating for you than sitting in my inventory through winter.
